Dr. Ray Miltenberger Receives Prestigious Outstanding Scientific Contributions Award from FABA

CFS Professor and ABA Program Director Ray Miltenberger, PhD, received the prestigious Outstanding Scientific Contributions to the Field of Behavior Analysis Award during the Florida Association for Behavior Analysis Conference and Awards Ceremony on Thursday, October 1st. The award, which requires approval of the FABA Executive Committee, is to acknowledge and honor behavior analysts or other individuals who, through scientific research and publication, have made significant contributions to the field of Behavior Analysis. Department of Criminology Wall of Fame Induction Ceremony

The Department of Criminology presented 3 Distinguished Alumni awards, 8 Outstanding Ambassador awards, and a Lifetime Achievement Award during their annual Wall of Fame event on October 2, 2015. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dr. Dwayne Smith, Senior Vice Provost and Dean of the Office of Graduate Studies. My Harrison, Christopher Morin and Shelly Tomlinson received the Distinguished Alumni awards. Kristina Childs, Danielle Chen-Loy Chin, Elizabeth Guerra, Hector Huertas, Norair Khachatryan, Monica Landers, John Maskaly, and Michael Pridemore received the Outstanding Ambassadors awards. CBCS Wins Suit-A-Bull Challenge

The office of Career Services and Enactus at USF announced on October 6, 2015 that the College of Behavioral & Community Sciences was the winner of the Deans and Vice Presidents Challenge during the 2015 Suit-A-Bull donation drive. With 21,400 points, the College was nearly 7,000 points above the nearest contender. Thanks to everyone who donated. Your generous gift will help ensure that all of our students will be suitably attired as they attend career fairs, employer-sponsored events on campus and job interviews.

ABA Welcomes Third Cohort of ABA Doctoral Students

The ABA doctoral program welcomes its third cohort of students during the Fall 2015 semester. Each year brings increasing numbers of highly qualified applicants. Claudia Campos is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who graduated from Florida International University with a Masters in Psychology (Applied Behavior Analysis concentration). She was also awarded the Florida Education Fund's McKnight Doctoral Fellowship for her outstanding academic achievements. Marissa Novotny completed her undergraduate and graduate work at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota and is the recipient of a University Graduate Fellowship Opens in a new window based on her outstanding credentials as an applicant for the doctoral program. Cynthia Livingston attended the University of Kansas for her Bachelors in Applied Behavioral Science, and minor in Psychology. Jessica Moore attended USF for her bachelor's degree - graduating with a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Applied Behavior Analysis. She also attended USF for her master's degree, graduating with a M.A. in Applied Behavior Analysis in 2015. Read more...

 

CBCS Homecoming Pre-Parade Watch Party

This year's homecoming watch party was well attended despite a little rain. About 100 faculty, staff, students and alumni enjoyed the food, company and parade. Dean Serovich was in the parade on the Leadership float. The Social Work Society students decorated a golf cart and participated in the parade and several CARD Champion students volunteered to serve food at the event. It was a great event for CBCS and the Bulls!

Glen Dunlap, PhD to Speak for Distinguished Lecture on Behavioral Health

CommuniqueGlen Dunlap, PhD, will present "Perspectives on Challenging Behavior: Past, Present and Future" on Thursday, November 5, 2015 from 3:00 - 5:00pm at the Gibbons Alumni Center (ALC 100). Formerly a professor with the University of South Florida, Dr. Glen Dunlap is internationally recognized for his contributions to science in the areas of applied behavior analysis, positive behavior support, early intervention, developmental disabilities and family support. Dr. Dunlap's legacy at the University of South Florida includes establishing the first Center for Autism and Related Disabilities and providing leadership in the development of numerous research, training, and technical assistance projects related to the implementation of Positive Behavior Support, early intervention, evidence-based practice, and improving runaway behavior. Study: Body cams help reduce complaints, officer and citizen injuries

Olson was one of about 45 Orlando officers outfitted with body cams starting in March 2014. Another 45 officers without cameras were monitored as a comparison over the yearlong study conducted by the University of South Florida on body cams.
