The 2016 Supervisor Speaker Series is a series of workshops designed to address the most pressing issues that our supervisors face on a daily basis. Supervisors and staff who provide support to HR functions may attend any or all of the workshops throughout the year to help develop skills as a supervisor.
In this seminar, David Owens will discuss the rules and regulations pertaining to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and your responsibilities, as a supervisor or manager. He'll also provide practical guidance on appropriate ways of discussing disabilities and the language and behaviors that are conducive to creating a respectful and thoughtful work environment that is welcoming to all individuals.

MHLP will be hosting its 2016 Continuing Education Forensic Training Series for Mental Health Professionals in August. Instruction in forensic evaluation of adults and juveniles involved in the legal system is complemented with focused training on assessing and managing patients' risk for violence in acute long-term care settings. The Forensic Evaluation and Juvenile Justice Training will take place from August 15-16, 2016. The Florida Adult Forensic Examiner Training will be held from August 18-20, 2016.  Susan A. MacManus, PhD, will present "Florida's Changing Electorate: The Generational Divide in the 2016 Election" on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 10:30am in the USF College of Public Health Auditorium 1023B. Dr. MacManus is a Distinguished University Professor at USF in the Department of Government and International Affairs, and Florida's most-quoted political scientist. She directs the annual USF-Nielsen Sunshine State Survey - the state's most extensive annual public policy survey of adult Floridians (sunshinestatesurvey.org). She currently serves as the political analyst for ABC Action News. She has appeared on every major broadcast, cable television and radio network, along with interviews by major newspapers in Florida, the U.S. and abroad. The 30th Annual Research & Policy Conference on Child, Adolescent, and Young Adult Behavioral Health will be held March 5-8, 2017 at the Hilton Tampa Downtown Hotel. The 2017 conference will mark the 30th year that the Department of Child & Family Studies has hosted this conference focused on cutting-edge research and best policy practices for child, adolescent, and young adult behavioral health. The Conference Planning Committee is currently accepting proposals for research benefiting children, youth, and their families.
