Dr. Tennyson Wright received the Longevity Award from the Black Faculty and Staff Association for his 30+ years of service to USF and the USF community. The award was presented by Dean Julie Serovich during the BFSA Annual Welcome Breakfast on September 6th. Claudia Cordero and Suresh Lama Tamang were awarded the John A. Orphanidys Scholarship Award, sponsored by the Florida Chapter of the International Association of Rehabilitation Professionals (IARP). This scholarship was established to promote graduate level rehabilitation education, and to recognize Florida vocational rehabilitation graduate students who have expressed a commitment to work in private vocational rehabilitation. The namesake of the scholarship, Mr. John Orphanidys, is a past president of the Florida IARP chapter and had a passion for student development and mentoring of up and coming private sector rehabilitation counselors. The award will cover airfare, lodging and per diem to attend the 2016 IARP/ISLCP Annual Conference being held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in October. Read more...

Florida KIDS COUNT is in the midst of producing a County Data Book and we want faces of real Florida Kids to help tell our story. Our Data Book will be put in the hands of advocates, politicians, county planners and administrators who make decisions every day on how our tax dollars and efforts are spent. Let's make sure they are looking into the faces or our children as they do so.

We are looking for children and young people from infant to young adult, as well as all sizes, colors, and abilities! Family and group photos are welcome too, as long as they include children. Please send a photo of your child, grandchild, niece, nephew, neighbor, whoever (with permission of course). Keep your eyes out for newest book coming in December 2016. The USF School of Social Work is proud to celebrate its 40th Anniversary this year. This event will celebrate our 40 years of social work education at USF by honoring distinguished alumni that have impacted our School and communities we serve. There will be a panel of executive level community partners discussing trends in the future of social work. Funds raised at this event will be invested in the future of the USF School of Social Work by increasing the Social Work Student Scholarship Fund.
