UFF USF Chapter Travel Funds
Congratulations to Dr. Christina Dillahunt-Aspillaga who was among six of thirty-four submissions selected to receive travel funds from the United Faculty of Florida at USF. The funds will help cover her travel to the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM) conference held this October in Atlanta, GA. This is the largest conference in the world for interdisciplinary rehabilitation research bringing together rehabilitation researchers, providers, clinicians, and administrators from over 65 countries. Two of Dr. Dillahunt-Aspillaga's presentations focusing on rehabilitation of military with traumatic brain injury have been accepted. Also at the conference, Dr. Dillahunt-Aspillaga is Co-Chairing the Military Community Reintegration task force annual meeting. As part of this task force, she is co-editing a supplement accepted for publication in the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Attending this meeting will allow her to address business related to publication.

Multicultural Guidelines Task Force
Since 2015, Dr. David Chiriboga has served on the American Psychological Association's five-person task force to revise the Guidelines on Multicultural Education, Training, Research, Practice and Organizational Change for Psychologists, 2002 (Multicultural Guidelines). Retitled Multicultural Guidelines: A Reconsideration and Applications and approved by APA's Council in August 2017, the document reflects the significant growth in research and theory regarding multicultural contexts since the original 2002 guidance was adopted, and encourages psychologists to consider how knowledge and understanding of intersectional identity develops from and is disseminated within professional psychological practice. Endemic to this understanding is an approach that incorporates developmental and contextual antecedents of identity and how they can be acknowledged, addressed, and embraced to engender more effective models of professional engagement. The Guidelines incorporate broad reference group identities such as Black/African American/Black American, White/White American, and Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander to acknowledge within group differences and the role of self-definition on identity. The Board of the Advancement of Psychology in the Public Interest's intends that the document continue to serve as the state-of-the-science in multicultural competency education and training, service delivery and research.

FMHI Research Library Changes
The Tampa Library will be sending students to manage the Desk activities: Opening and closing the FMHI Research Library, checking materials in and out, and helping to resolve problems.  These students have had experience in the Tampa Library, and  will do their best for you and the students. In case you need a higher level of service (e.g., to schedule an instruction session with a librarian), please contact Maryellen Allen, Assistant Director for Instructional Services. mallen@usf.edu
The FMHI Research Library will maintain its regular schedule, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.  Please remember that the library has a presentation practice room and two group study rooms, all of which students may check out for academic use. There are also textbooks on reserve behind the Desk that students may check out for a span of three hours. Please encourage your students to use the library, located in the MHC complex,  as a convenient location to study before and after class.
