Hillsborough County's 13th Judicial Circuit Court received a SAMHSA drug court award of $2.1 million for five years in partnership with the Drug Abuse Comprehensive Coordinating Office (DACCO) and the University of South Florida's Dept. of Mental Health Law and Policy. This grant program will expand treatment for parents with a substance use disorder and/or co-occurring disorders in Hillsborough County, Florida, who seek to reunify with their children, serving 35 parents annually (total 165 over the five years). Treatment services include residential, intensive outpatient, recovery support, and medication-assisted treatment; systems navigation as well as services for the family as a whole with direct services for children ages 17 and younger.

Dr. Kathleen Moore will oversee the evaluation component of the grant that will focus on both process measures and program outcomes and will include collection of both qualitative and quantitative data. The process evaluation will assist the Court to meet its goals and objectives of assessing the effectiveness of program implementation and to provide recommendations for improving key program functions and activities such as screening and assessment, treatment services, and treatment fidelity.
