Congratulations to CSD Scholarship Recipients
Theresa Novak was awarded the Greater Tampa Sertoma Scholarship. She finished her Bachelor's degree from USF in Language, Speech and Hearing and is entering the M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology graduate program this Fall.






Katrina Parnham was awarded the Bradenton Memorial Endowed Scholarship from the Sertoma Club of Bradenton. She received her BA from FIU and is an incoming Doctor of Audiology graduate student.

Dr. William Kearns Speaks at Conference
Dr. William Kearns delivered a talk on research conducted with Professor James L. Fozard (CBCS/SAS) and Ashish Kumar (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore) entitled "A longitudinal analysis of ALF resident wandering using ultra wideband real-time location services (RTLS): Results of a yearlong study" at the 2018 Conference on Movement and Cognition at the Joseph B. Martin Conference Center at the Harvard Medical School on July 28th.
The USF Black Faculty and Staff Association collaborating with Institute on Black Life, Africana Studies, Institute for the Study of Latin America and the Caribbean is hosting a Week of Welcome (WOW) event on Tuesday, August 21 from 2:00 - 5:00pm in FAO 2nd floor

Dr. Kathryn Hyer Invited to Speak at Aging Conference
Dr. Kathryn Hyer was invited to speak at closing lunch panel for the Florida Conference on Aging Panel. She spoke about the importance of preparing a geriatric workforce for the longevity economy as PI on the USF Health, 4 year 3.1 million HRSA funded grant. 

The 32nd Annual Research & Policy Conference on Child, Adolescent, and Young Adult Behavioral Health Planning Committee invites you to submit proposals for research benefiting children, youth and their families.

Dr. Nev Jones delivers keynote at Alternatives, UCLA Social Medicine Grand Rounds
In late July, Dr. Nev Jones (MHLP), delivered a keynote for the Alternatives conference, the premiere national conference for mental health service users/peers and advocates, and an invited Social Medicine Grand Rounds talk on racial/ethnic disparities, structural disadvantage and psychosis at the UCLA Geffen School of Medicine.

In addition, Dr. Jones received a NIH/NIMH Clinical Research Loan Repayment Program (LRP) Award. This competitive, cross-NIH loan repayment program directly re-pays 25% of existing student loans per award year in order to support promising early career researchers engaged in clinical research.
