Aging Studies Students Present at the USF Undergraduate Research Conference

Britney Veal and Devina Basdeo (below left), seniors in USF's Honors College, work with PhD candidate Nasreen Sadeq and Professor Ross Andel in the School of Aging Studies Cogstate lab. Their research on older adults and volunteering found that volunteering was common among older adults, particularly among those who are women, more extroverted, or younger. They also found that volunteering had a positive effect on older adults' physical, cognitive, and psychosocial health, and could potentially reduce their risk of cognitive decline and/or dementia in the future. In addition, Brian Musch and Sean Briceno (below right), also from the CogState Lab at the School of Aging Studies, presented their poster on the effects of caffeine on the mind and body.
