CBCS Townhall Virtual Meeting

Dean Serovich hosted a virtual townhall meeting with CBCS faculty and staff on Friday, August 7, 2020. The event, attended by over 200 individuals, provided faculty/staff the opportunity to ask the Dean questions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and the status of classes this fall as well as some recent budgetary issues that have come up. The event was recorded and the video is available below to view. In addition, the FAQ for faculty that the Dean referred to several times is also linked below.

SAMHSA/OBHE Issue Brief: The Opioid Crisis and the Hispanic/Latino Population: An Urgent Issue

Research Assistant Professor Linda M. Callejas, PhD has contributed to an issue brief - The Opioid Crisis and the Hispanic/Latino Population: An Urgent Issue - just released from SAMHSA's Office of Behavioral Health Equity. As Congress, federal agencies, state and county health and behavioral health departments, and community stakeholders mobilize to address the opioid epidemic and what is happening within the Hispanic/Latino communities, this issue brief aims to convey a snapshot of how this population is impacted.

CFS Celebrates New and Continued Funding to Support Florida's Children and Families

In June, Governor Ron DeSantis signed Florida's state budget for Fiscal Year 2020-2021. According to the Governor, the budget totaling $92.2 billion, "reflects a steadfast commitment to Floridians by safeguarding important investments in key areas including education, the environment, infrastructure, public safety and more."

"We are extremely pleased that several of the important investments are programs within our department," said Professor Mario Hernandez, CFS Department Chair. "It speaks to the volume of our work and dedication of our faculty and staff who work on many issues to ensure the health and success of Florida's children and families." Full article...

Become a Scholar in the Fully Paid Translational Research in Adolescent Behavioral Health Graduate Certificate Program

Applications are now open to start the program in Spring 2021. This program pays for 15 credits of tuition, fees, and travel to conferences. You will be mentored to conduct your own community-engaged research to help solve real-world problems, present results at a conference, and publish your our work. You may be able to apply these credits toward your degree program (with approval).
