Volunteers Needed for Music AppResearch Study
Description of the Project:
This is a unique opportunity to pilot test an app designed for caregivers and their family members with dementia to increase music engagement for persons with dementia. This research study is conducted by researchers at the School of Aging Studies at the University of South Florida (USF IRBPro#000752).

Eligibility:
To be eligible to participate you must:
  1. Be 18 years of age or older.
  2. Have been caring for a family member with dementia (can be a family member by marriage) for at least three months.
  3. The person you care for must: (A) be aged 60 or older; (B) have an existing diagnosis of any type of dementia and (C) be living at home.
Time Commitment:
You and your family member with dementia will both participate in the study. Total time required for participation is about 6 hours (1 hr. for orientation, 3 hrs. for music listening at home, half an hour for a follow-up survey and 1.5 hr. for the exit meeting and focus group). After completing consent and intake forms at orientation, you will be asked to use an Amazon Fire tablet to play music for 3 times a week (30 minutes each) during a 2-week period. You will complete two questionnaires (1 at intake and 1 at the end of the program). You will also receive a $40 gift card when you complete the study.

More Information:
If you would like to participate, or have questions about the program, please contact Ms. Alexis DiBlanda by phone/text at (409) 739-7431 or via email at adiblanda@usf.edu.
