USF College of Behavioral & Community Sciences

August 8 - 14, 2021

2021-22 CBCS Graduate Student Fellows
Cassidy Doyle
Cassidy Doyle (GSS Fellow) is a recent Penn State graduate from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. At USF, she will be studying Aging Studies. Choosing USF was easy for Ms. Doyle because of how intimate and individualized the Aging Studies program is.

Tara Matta
Tara Matta (GSS Fellow) is now a third-time student at USF, this time pursing her PhD in Social Work after a BA in Psychology and a Master's in Social Work. She has chosen to attend USF for the third time as they house extensive staff well-versed in her preferred area of research: working with geriatric patients diagnosed with neurodegenerative diseases.

Carl Reeds
Carl Reeds (GSS Fellow) is a PhD student with the Department of Criminology. He hails from the Central Florida area and chose to attend USF because of the faculty expertise in his areas of research interests.

Sathya Romero Rueda
Sathya Romero Rueda (Kreplich Fellow) is from Cumana, Venezuela. She is studying social work in hopes of becoming a therapist with a focus on mental health. Ms. Romero Rueda applied only to USF, because USF is the reason her family came to the U.S. Her parent was offered a position in a PhD program, so she has grown up as a part of USF and always knew it was where she belonged.

Christina Velasco
Christina Velasco (Kreplich Fellow) is from Clearwater, Florida and is pursuing a Master's degree in Social Work. She also received her Bachelor's degree from USF, and knew there was no place she'd rather complete her MSW.

Elzbieta Weidbusch
Elzbieta Weidbusch (Presidential Fellow) is a Chicago native attending USF's Behavioral & Community Sciences doctoral program. With her primary focus in policy, psychology, and the criminal justice system, she chose USF because of the faculty mentorship and individualized training offered by the program.
